Our apps keep your work in plain Markdown files on your own Mac. You can open those files in other apps, share them with other people and give them to the AI you choose to use.
We are building Lakoy into an operating system for human self-realization in an AI world. It will bring your goals, your knowledge and the AI that helps you with them into one system that you control. Markant and Graphmark are the first parts of it.
The apps
Markant and Graphmark are utilities for two ways of working with Markdown, the format of every document you save in Lakoy. Markant is for reading documents, and Graphmark is for thinking in maps.
One file format
Every document you save in a Lakoy app is plain Markdown. A map saved by Graphmark opens in Markant as an outline, in an Obsidian vault as a note and in any text editor as a nested list.
What Markdown cannot hold, such as the position and colour of a branch, goes in a small companion file beside the document, so the Markdown itself stays clean. If you stop using our apps, your documents stay readable without them.
How we build
Your files
Your documents are ordinary files on your Mac. You can move them, back them up and open them in other apps without exporting anything.
Made for the Mac
Our apps use the standard menus, keyboard commands, text handling and accessibility features of macOS.
No tracking
Our apps and websites contain no analytics, advertising or tracking. The privacy policy lists every case in which an app contacts a server.
Open formats
We publish the MarkBooks format under CC0, so anyone can implement it.
